Here's a story about a pair of much loved deceased Betsey Johnson red patent Mary Janes: I wore these to my freshman year high school Winter Ball, circa 1994. I was, and still am, a Betsey Johnson devotee. I proudly wore them over the years, they even braved the frigid NYC winters. Alas, they started cracking - as patent leather does over time. I nurtured them with Kiehls Lip Balm but they kept cracking away. Their grand finale: a Betty Boop Halloween costume, circa 2006. They served me well, rest in peace my BJ red patent Mary Janes. There is a happy ending to this fashion love story: I have been on the look out for a replacement pair of red patent Mary Janes for the past year. I found them! They aren't Mary Janes, but I think they're a bit more grown up and therefore the perfect replacement. To see them, check out my "I absolutely love my..." group.
